How to Copy Color in the Starfield Ship Builder - Guide on Ship Customization

An important feature in Starfield is its great customization options. You can personalize character skills and appearance, and even create your own ships. It's not just about building ships from scratch with modules and parts, you can also change the color of each part of the ship.


Through this guide, you will learn how to copy the color of individual parts and even how to color the entire spacecraft.

To copy the color of a piece and apply it to other pieces or parts of the spacecraft, the first step is to access the ship builder. To do this, head to a location with a spaceport and speak with a "Ship Services Technician". Once you have accessed the ship builder, follow these steps:

  • Select the part from which you want to copy the color and press the "J" key on PC to access the color menu.

  • Move the color slider to select the color.

  • Press Enter to confirm, and the color should be copied to the "recent" section under brightness.

To apply the copied color to another part:


  • Select the part to which you want to apply the color.

  • Choose the color from the "recent" section.

Change whole ship color in Starfield

If instead of changing the color of a single section, you want to change the color of your entire ship, follow these steps:


  • Go to a Ship Builder console or a technician and select "View and modify my ship".

  • Choose a part of the ship and double-click it or press RB twice to highlight the entire ship.

  • Press J on the keyboard or LS (click the left thumbstick) on the controller.

  • Use the color wheel to select a color and adjust it.

  • Save the changes.
