In Enshrouded, bloom and fog effects have sparked debate within the game community. Many players find these features disruptive and even unplayable. In this guide, I'll address these concerns and offer tips for managing them effectively.
Before and After following this Guide - Reduce Bloom with Nvidia Filters
The primary issue with bloom and fog is player discomfort. The brightness, glare, and contrast of these effects can cause headaches and visual fatigue for many players. Adjusting the visual settings in Enshrouded could greatly improve the gaming experience.
Bloom
Unfortunately, the game currently lacks options to disable or control these features. This leaves the community searching for solutions outside of the game itself.
Some of the methods to solve this problem involve using external mods. However, there is also a non-invasive method that allows reducing the bloom and improving the user experience, the Nvidia Filters.
To use this method, you need to have an Nvidia GPU in your PC, as well as the GeForce Experience application. To access the filter menu, open Enshrouded, and once you're in-game, press [ALT + F3]. Alternatively, you can also press [ALT + Z].
What to do if you receive the error message “A supported game is required to use this feature”:
If you receive a message stating that the game is not supported, access the GeForce Experience application and in the driver section, ensure that all drivers are installed.
Once you have opened the Nvidia Filters [ALT + F3], a screen like this will appear:
Filters Menu
Next, select "Style 1" and click on "Add Filter". From this dropdown, you can add different filters that will affect how the game looks. In the configuration I'm going to show you, you'll need to add three filters: Details, Color, and Brightness/Contrast. The parameters you should apply to each filter are as follows:
Details
Sharpen | Clarity |
---|---|
50 % | 70 % |
HDR Toning | Bloom |
---|---|
60 % | 0 % |
Color
Tint Color | Tint Intensity |
---|---|
42 % | 6 % |
Temperature | Vibrance |
---|---|
0 | 10.5 |
Brightness/Constrast
Exposure | Contrast |
---|---|
82 % | 100 % |
Highlights | Shadows |
---|---|
19 % | 15 % |
Gamma |
---|
0 % |
Once you've chosen all the parameters, simply press "DONE." Keep in mind that you can customize the filters based on your preferences, allowing you to add additional filters or tweak the settings.
By comparing the images before and after applying the filters in the previous configurations, you can see how these changes affect the game.
Before and After applying the Filters
Motion blur is a visual effect in games where fast-moving objects appear blurred, mimicking camera motion. Some players dislike motion blur, finding it distracting or uncomfortable during gameplay while others enjoy it for adding realism.
To disable motion blur in Enshrouded, first, access the game's main menu and navigate to the settings. Next, locate the 'accessibility' tab within the settings menu. Finally, find the 'Reduce Dynamic Camera Motion' toggle and switch it on to disable motion blur.
